Updated daily, the Buy section is a deep directory of stuff we love. From this collection we organize Gift Guides for the holiday season and special occasions all year long.
Far from a traditional calendar, this wooden 3D Dodecal designed by Ric Bell makes for a beautiful desk accessory. With 12 faces (aka a dodecahedron) this calendar has the months and days laser-engraved on each side—so all you need to do is flip each month. Made from sustainably sourced European Sycamore wood, this piece weighs 320 grams and has been handcrafted using both traditional woodworking techniques and technology. Price is in British Pounds.
Made from 100% natural fair-trade hemp, Shed collars for pets come adorned with all kinds of playful and provocative patterns. From marijuana leaves to dinosaurs, smiley poop and boobs, they are each as silly and cute as the next. Available in small, medium or large, they can fit small dogs, cats and even “small bears,” so your best pal will be the right size for one of these fun accessories.
With 100 recipes for dishes and drinks from beloved NYC cafe Egg Shop, the upcoming cookbook (which is available for pre-order now) is full of yummy treats. Not only does the book include super-helpful egg-cooking techniques, there are also tips on sourcing quality bacon and the best kind of cheese for melting. We’re looking forward to attempting the delicious Egg Shop B.E.C at home.
Measuring 8.375 inches, this Pizza skate deck is bold and definitely not for carb-free skate enthusiasts. This split-stain deck comes with a sheet of grip (black or clear) and has a decidedly retro vibe.
It might not seem like 9000 bottles is a small batch, but when considering global distribution, this product quickly becomes scarce. Continuing their celebrated Tun 1509 series, No 3 features 31 single malts married in a tun hailing from 31 different casks, including 12 sherry butts distilled between 1989 and 1992; 11 American oak hogsheads distilled in 1989; and eight refill American oak butts distilled in 1992 and 1993. The resulting flavor profile is Balvenie through and through—with that Speyside vanilla sweetness upfront but layers of spice below.
From RVS’ “Rebirth” collection, the Palladium 001, comes in several colorways—though this silver version is a true stand-out. While the perfectly round lenses offer a retro vibe, the high, arched bridge is a contemporary twist. These limited edition shades—made of 100% solid silver—are simple, modern and minimal. Made in an edition of just 10, they are super-exclusive, and will surely stand the test of time.
You don’t need to know much about Port, a fortified wine, to enjoy what Croft has done with this 10-year-old tawny. Spice and oak flavors (vanilla and caramel) unite beneath the smooth red fruit-driven blended wine base. This is a delight to drink straight, but Port has also been factoring into cocktails recently—and for good reason.
Crafted from stainless steel (though, there are copper, silver, gunmetal black and gold-plated options), this Skull Barspoon from Cocktail Kingdom makes those 30 seconds of stirring an Old Fashioned a little extra fun and also macabre. Developed with Jeff “Beachbum” Berry, this 33cm long utensil gets the job done with personality.
As we’ve noted before, the phrase “single pot still” in Irish Whisky is akin to the respect warranted by single malt in scotch. Redbreast’s latest, the Lustau Edition, sees this well-crafted spirit aged in Bodegas Lustau ex-Sherry barrels. The traditional Irish whisky creaminess meets with spice that lingers well after each sip. At 92 proof, this spirit is rather potent but without any loss of nuance.
With a punk memorabilia collection that stretched 40 years, Toby Mott was the right person to dive in and pick out items from bands, designers and political groups for the new book “Oh So Pretty: Punk in Print 1976–80.” Mott shows how punk was much more than spiky hair and safety pins through his tome, via some 500 artifacts. With zines, posters, badges and more, Mott explores the DIY nature of the movement—displaying just how incredibly creative it really was.
A very simple message on a pin: Keep Going. Not only is it a little daily motivation for all kinds of tasks, but it’s an essential reminder that we need to continue our fight to end gun violence. The Everytown movement wants to build safer communities and keep innocent people out of harm’s way—a very reasonable mission, considering almost 13k people have been killed due to gun violence in the USA this year.
Made from 100% leather, this black basketball was crafted by Atelier New Regime for indoor use. Part of the Hometown Heroes capsule collection, the ball is size seven (aka men’s official size, with a 30-inch circumference) and while boasting logos on four panels, it’s a sophisticated update. While it might not improve your game, you’ll definitely look great while playing.
Most often liqueurs are low proof, lifeless or overly sweet. None of that is true with the second product from Ancho Reyes: Verde. At 40% ABV, it packs a punch and fresh hand-picked poblano peppers lend a true zing. This is spicy, but other earthy fruits and veggies factor in, making for a well-rounded yet dynamic sipper that can punch of plenty of cocktails—especially agave spirit-based ones.
While Sharon Jones sadly is no longer be with us, her vast repertoire of soulful tunes remains. A new limited edition pressing of her (along with the Dap Kings, of course) “It’s A Holiday Soul Party,” on green vinyl, offers the ideal opportunity to connect with her zest this holiday season. Supported by her acclaimed band, Jones joyously delivers 11 holiday songs, both original and traditional. It’s funky, powerful and lots of fun for all kinds of festivities.
LA-based artist Angela Rossi turns antiquated porcelain plates and other formal dining wares and turns them into modern works of art through clever mixed-media portraits. Our favorite features David Bowie, but music fans can choose from Prince, Janis Joplin, Sid Vicious, Patti Smith and more, in varying shapes and sizes.
In the year since its release, Plantation Rum’s Stiggins’ Fancy Pineapple Rum has become a bartending staple for those whipping up clever mixed drinks. Queen Victoria pineapples are hand-peeled and infused into a dark rum from Trinidad. Those rinds, after masceration, are also added to the rum and distilled. The result is a sweet but dynamic sipping rum that can hold its own against other spirits and just about any mixer.
