Available in a limited quantity, the collaboration from Brightland and Slow Factory—called A Special Duo—sees 100% of the proceeds donated to The Slow Factory Foundation, a 501c3 non-profit organization that fosters community and increases education at the crux of culture and our climate. The set includes Brightland’s ALIVE olive oil and ARDOR chili olive oil, both of which are drawn from heirloom olives at a certified organic mill. For ARDOR, the brand blends red chili peppers, jalapeno peppers, chipotle peppers and paprika into the already tasty oil. The glass bottles (with designs adorned via environmentally friendly, UV-energy cured, 100% organic water-based inks) hold 375 milliliters each. All packaging is plastic-free and recyclable.
Published by Smith Street Books and penned by Caroline Griffiths and Vicki Valsamis, Eat Plants, Be Happy: 130 Simple Vegan and Vegetarian Recipes outlines delicious plant-based dishes with vegetables as their centerpiece. The authors also demonstrate the value of eating plant-based meals—for the human body and the planet, too. Available for pre-order now, the cookbook releases 13 April next year.
To evoke the sensations of film’s most frightening genre—through scent—independent entertainment company A24 (beloved for releases like The Witch, Midsommar and Hereditary) collaborated with Brooklyn-based fragrance studio Joya on a “Horror” candle. This soy-wax blend candle exudes leathery notes for its more than 50-hour burn time. They went quickly after we wrote about them in 2018, but the collaboration returns Monday 12 October at noon EST.
Founded by Rick Dove, apparel brand MUCH MORE exemplifies the fashion industry veteran’s creativity and beliefs. The brand’s “Protect Black Women” shirt emphasizes one of those beliefs. With 100% of the proceeds given to small businesses owned by Black women, the screen-printed shirt (available in size small to XXL) is made in the USA.
The pieces in Jenga’s new Ocean set are made from 100% recycled fishing nets. Using 25 square feet of nets procured through partner Bureo, the brand crafted black-hued pieces adorned with images of ocean animals—from sharks to sardines. The hand-drawn art on each piece, as well as on the exterior packaging (which is also made from 100% recycled materials), was done by artist and surfer Lake Buckley. Further, a “Save the Animals” set of rules slipped inside each set offers real-life advice for limiting your impact on sea-dwelling creatures.
This six-panel, embroidered “dad hat” doesn’t just shout out one of NYC’s most iconic music venues, the Bowery Ballroom, sales from it directly benefit the concert hall—which has been shuttered for months due to COVID-19. It’s composed of 100% pigment-dyed cotton twill (also available in olive green) and one size fits most.
Tanner Goods’ pragmatically named Record Rack holds 40 12-inch records within its tangerine-colored stainless steel structure. This stand angles each record backward slightly so there’s enough room for users to flip through their collection easily. Plus, the rack’s outward wings make for easy carrying. The nifty, minimal storage solution comes coated in a chip-resistant semi-gloss powder coat finish and makes your record collection the visual focus.

Patagonia’s R4 wetsuit (available for all genders) is constructed from Fair Trade Certified Yulex natural rubber and synthetic rubber, a first-ever for the category. The formfitting garment protects against exposure to cold water—specifically, 38 to 48 degrees Fahrenheit—and increases circulation through compression. The suit now boasts increased stretchability, with recycled liners employed throughout to improve flexibility. The new front zipper and a redesigned hood also make getting in and out easier and faster. Available in size four through 12 in traditional women’s sizes and small to XL in men’s.
Run by mother-daughter duo Molly and Mary Ann Mathias, Magic Hour offers an assortment of sweet, handmade ceramic tripods. When ordering, you can view the suite of selections on the product page but the one you’ll get remains a surprise unless specifically requested otherwise. The two-by-two-inch pieces range in color, pattern and texture, but all perform the same function: storage for something like salt in the kitchen or delicate jewelry in the bedroom.
This three-tiered tool from Sackville & Co allows users to grind more dried herbs than typical grinders. Though ideal for cannabis flower, the rose gold Gilded Grinder also conquers dried blends—achieved simply by placing a bouquet in the top chamber. Super-sharp teeth ensure an even grind, and a magnetic closure guarantees no herbs escape.
From Sparnicht Ceramics, this Not Stoked mug is the result of a collaboration between Michelle Sparnicht and artist Tamiko Sidore. Available as a 14-ounce mug or a two-ounce espresso cup, these ceramic vessels are not safe for the dishwasher, but can be used in the microwave.
NYC-based fitness studio The Brrrn focuses on slide board workouts in colder settings. Their in-person slide classes, for example, happen in 50-degree gym spaces. For those who want to do the same workout at home, classes and accessories are available through The Brrrn’s At-Home Subscription, a monthly plan that provides members with access to classes whenever they’d like. All of the classes use the studio’s eponymous Brrrn Board, a five-foot-long surface flanked by two wooden bumpers. From skating-type stance, you slide back and forth, following the instructor’s guidance for knee bend, hand placement and pace. Seasoned sliders can opt for fast-paced classes, longer sessions or workouts that reinvent the way you use the board. Each board weighs 28 pounds and comes with booties and wipes.
A striking object and guaranteed conversation piece, the Stündenglass Gravity Hookah is a pure and hearty tool for consuming cannabis and can be used for so much more. One side of the device is filled with water; when rotated, that liquid’s movement to the other side creates a vacuum that pulls in smoke or vapor from whatever is in the bowl. A second turn then pushes that smoke out the hose for touch-less consumption. Beyond cannabis, this hourglass can be used to extract smoke from many things and is particularly intriguing for adding new flavors to cocktails or food.
