Bamford Watch Department + We Are Halcyon’s “The Superman”

Exploring ocean depths with freediver Francisco Del Rosario in a thoughtful short film

“Your heartbeat slows down as soon as your face touches the water,” explains celebrated freedriver (and marine biologist) Francisco Del Rosario in “The Superman.” Created by We are Halcyon filmmakers Jack Pirie and Alex Hylands-White, the two-and-a-half minute short follows Del Rosario in the midst of preparation for a solo freedive on El Hierro in the Canary Islands. During the course of the documentary, the subject shares insights on his origins and experiences. A thoughtful beauty runs its course, accompanied by quiet challenges to push oneself. Commissioned by Bamford Watch Department, the film also happens to be an active test of their Bamford Heritage MilSub. This isn’t an advertisement as much as it is a passion project. And with a debut on

National Geographic it becomes increasingly evident that “The Superman” brings light to an important figure who has mastered his craft first and foremost—all the while occupying a space between dreams and reality.
