Křehký Festival of Art Design
Design shines in Mikulov, Czech Republic

Nestled among the beautiful landscape of the Pálava hills near the border of the Czech Republic and Austria, Mikulov is a romantic town in the heart of Moravian wine country. Between 1-3 June 2012, the ancient chateau above the town will host the Křehký Festival of Art Design for the second time. The small festival maintains an intimate, convivial atmosphere where curators, artists, designers, collectors and gallerists can meet in the beautiful setting of the Baroque chateau, against the backdrop of spectacular landscape dotted with wine houses from one of the best vineyard regions in central Europe.
The event, organized by the Prague-based design gallery Křehký (Fragile), showcases presentations and curated exhibitions devoted to unique, under-the-radar design. Last year, the first iteration of the festival presented the best from Czech contemporary design, including the installation “Archive of Miracles” from the Czech pavilion at the Shanghai EXPO 2010, as well as works by Mikulov-based pottery-maker and designer Daniel Piršč.
This year Křehký presents new objects by Tomáš Král, Michaela Tomišková, and Tomáš Gabzdi Libertiny, alongside work from several other European design galleries including Paris-based S. Bensimon and Helmrinderknecht from Berlin. Sofie Lachaert from Tielrode will also exhibit along with the Art Design Project from Bratislava and the legendary Prague-based studio and label of Qubus.
