Black Ember’s New WPRT Collection

Bags that boast interchangeability and weather-proofing

The latest from SF-based Black Ember is the WPRT Collection: a pair of roll-top bags that are durable, waterproof and super-functional. Launching on Kickstarter today, the Minimal and the Modular bags both allow for extensive customization with Black Ember’s range of accessories. Without sacrificing organizational features or easy-access pockets, these bags are entirely waterproof—even at access points, thanks to a 800-denier, three-layer MICRO-HEX performance textile and clever features.

Both bags offer up to 30 liters of volume and have three entry points. The roll-top makes loading an easy task, while a laptop sleeve keeps the devices separated and dry. They’re outfitted with a German-engineered Fidlock with Magnetic V-buckle to close the roll, aircraft-grade anodized and laser-etched attachment hardware and double-layer foam shoulder straps for structure and stability.

The Minimal and Modular are almost identical; the exception being their exterior attachment options. The Minimal, as the name implies, is for everyday carry—a voluminous vessel for essentials in unfavorable weather. While the Modular boasts the ability to add extra volume by way of one of Black Ember’s 12 existing MODs, or accessory pouches, which range from a DSLR Pac (in which we fit two Leicas, a Nikon and four lenses) to compression straps for wet garments or tools.

Black Ember’s WPRT Collection is live on Kickstarter now. This allows backers early access to both bags before the official, April 2019 release.
