A “Quick Côte” Shop Opens in NYC
Toxin-free nail polish and more for on-the-go New Yorkers who hate the typical salon manicure experience
Everything that ever stopped you from getting a manicure is alleviated at LA-based Côte’s first East Coast shop. First off, it doesn’t feel like a typical salon. Four small tables are tucked away far away from the window, surrounded by browsable books and fair-trade items—some coming all the way from France—from independent designers, which are all for sale. The signature $20 “quick côte,” a polish change that takes about 15 minutes or less, includes tip and the location only takes credit card—so no more mad dashing across the street to find an ATM, and ruining a freshly manicured nail in the process.
What’s just as important is what gets applied onto the nail: côte’s cruelty-free, vegan nail polish is not only made without formaldehyde, DBP, toluene, camphor, formaldehyde resin, xylene, ethyl tosylamide and parabens—it also avoids the ridiculous fancy names that usually accompany nail polish shades and impossible to remember. Instead, in a no-nonsense manner, their colors are numbered No. 1 through (currently) 116.
The newly opened “quick côte” shop is located at 100 E 13th Street, near Union Square. No appointments—just walk-ins.
