Seven Ways to Wear Pineapples
Designers turn to the spiky tropical fruit as a muse and the results are tasty
The weather in NYC has been teasing a taste of summer lately, and with it comes an appetite for the sweet and tropical. Lasting much longer than a piña colada are these classy ways to wear your love for pineapple, without feeling like you’ve dressed up for a luau-themed barbecue. Designers have turned to the spiky fruit as their muse and the results are almost as good as the rare, creamy white Kaua’i Sugarloaf pineapple we stumbled upon at a farmers market in Hawaii.
MSGM Pineapple Shirt
Pineapples ran rampant in the always bright and colorful Italian label MSGM’s S/S15 collection—from burgundy knit sweaters to oversize jacquard coats. What stands out is the Poplin Pineapple Shirt, an airy cotton top that’s playfully dressy. The black and yellow pineapples pop against the pale blue—and if you’re really in love, you can pair the shirt with the matching skirt—even grab the dress version, too. ($390)
Alice McCall Eyecatcher Jumpsuit
Cream with touches of gold lurex, Alice McCall’s Eye Catcher jumpsuit is a sophisticated way to get tropical, as the pineapple print is nearly camouflaged.
