Takuya Duncan’s Montauk Cotton Stripe Pant

A Hamptons’ variation on classic Japanese worker pants makes for ideal summer loungewear

Summer lounge season is almost upon us and the Montauk Cotton Stripe Pant from new premium menswear brand Takuya Duncan is a perfect fit. Made in Japan, from Japanese cotton Kimono fabric at a 100-year-old factory, the pants are a modern take—with Hamptons’ flourishes—on the traditional Japanese worker pant known as Monpe. Indigo stripes complement the navy cotton, offering visual texture and an understated, solid navy is available, too. But, as with all loungewear comfort is key; the material feels great on and the cut here is slim but the fit remains relaxed, and the drawstring makes them easy-on, easy-off.

Takuya Duncan launched this year and the co-founders Aaron Duncan and Takuya Suzuki each bring years of fashion industry expertise to the table. Both were inspired by their East Hampton base, as well as time spent in Japan. Their debut collection features 14 pieces beyond the Montauk Cotton Stripe Pant—including T-shirts, hoodies, shorts and more—all authentic, comfortable essentials with a Japan-meets-Hamptons vibe. This is premium loungewear, designed to be worn at home, on the beach or even out at night. They are also the perfect travel pant, offering both comfort and style for long haul flights.

The Montauk Cotton Stripe Pant is available online for $245.
