Vans’ NASA-Inspired Space Voyager Collection

Original spacesuit design informs eight footwear iterations, three jackets and numerous accessories

For the last six decades, NASA‘s been an inspiration the world over. During five of those six decades, Vans has been equipping individuals at the crux of cultural shifts with their iconic footwear, clothing and accessories. To honor the former, Vans has just revealed their Space Voyager Collection and it pays tribute to the space agency through meticulous design nods, including references to the original spacesuit. This is more than a commemorative line—it’s an official partnership begetting a series for active use.

Regarding footwear, Vans reimagined the Sk8-Hi and Old Skool for adults here. Two Sk8-Hi 46 MTE DX styles feature exposed foam and the NASA insignia (known as the Meatball) on the panels. One of the two Old Skool styles comes in crisp white, with the 1975-introduced NASA Worm logo. The other is an eye-catching orange colorway with the same copy and detailing. A youth line also incorporates a Slip-On iteration, sporting a black galaxy-print upper and a glitter gum outsole. It’s fun to say the least.

For apparel and accessories, the capsule includes two backpacks: the Snag Plus Backpack in space white and Grind Skate Duffel in space orange. There’s a pullover hoodie and long-sleeved T-shirt. Finally, there are three different jacket types. The children’s roster adds an additional three T-shirts. Altogether, it’s comprehensive in depth and detail, while galactic in importance.

Vans’ Space Voyager Collection will be available online and stores on 2 November.
