Hisashi Tenmyouya creates modern day urban street scenes in traditional Japanese style. His work is currently on exhibit at the Whitney as part of the show: American Effect. Tenmyouya challenges the common perceptions of tradition, culture, violence, and technology.
The MCA Chicago is featuring work from Hiroshi Sugimoto, a Japanese photographer. Sugimoto’s blurry perspective on architecture is sublime. The installation was also designed by the artist and is among the most intriguing presentations of photographs that I have ever experienced.
