From Oregon’s Archival Clothing to Montana’s Kletterwerks, there seems to be no shortage of quality American-made bags available these days—but that doesn’t mean there isn’t room for more. With this in mind, we’ve recently been giving the standard Hank Daypack a run. Made specially with Horween leather from Chicago for the newly launched, domestically-driven brand by the legendary Parrott Canvas of Greenville, NC, the hefty bag is big, but basic.
At over 15 inches high and 13 inches deep, the classic 18 oz waxed cotton bag’s single main compartment is easily large enough to fit a weekend’s worth of gear—on one occasion we found it fit a shoe box, sweatshirt and light jacket with ease. Additionally, the Daypack features a 5 oz leather bottom, pull tabs, lash ons and handle, with vintage-inspired felt straps and—as with all Parrot Canvas daypacks—the exterior pouch hides a brass keychain for keeping your essentials in place while on the move.
