Word of Mouth: New and Noteworthy Tel Aviv Hotels

Some of the most spectacular accommodations in Israel’s Mediterranean city

From Bauhaus to Brutalist, Ottoman to Crusader, a selection of design-led hotels have been springing up in refurbished and architecturally preserved edifices across bustling Tel Aviv. In all, there’s acute attention to detail behind such developments in Israel. With what feels like a year-long summer, Tel Aviv has been an experimental spot for new hotels that blend history, design and technology. As a reflection of the city itself, the hotels below offer more than a simple stay.

The Poli House

The Poli House is a 40-room hotel harnessing the zeitgeist of Tel Aviv’s past, present and future while embracing a contemporary and future-forward style of hospitality. Housed in a meticulously restored Bauhaus building, The Poli House features clean yellow, blue, green and white interiors created exclusively by world-renowned industrial designer/architect Karim Rashid. There’s also a panoramic rooftop pool, sunbathing lounge, cocktail bar, restaurant and serene rooms for spa treatments.

The Lighthouse

The Lighthouse is housed within an iconic Brutalist-style building situated steps from the beach, Mediterranean promenade, Rothschild Boulevard and Carmel Market. The 100-room property pulses with electronic music from local artists—through its common areas including the lively lobby, two energetic cocktail bars and Haiku rooftop lounge with panoramic views of Tel Aviv’s skyline.

The Setai Tel Aviv

Miami’s The Setai Hotel just opened their first two properties in Israel with The Setai Tel Aviv and Setai Galilee. The former is the city’s first member of Leading Hotels of the World and is housed within one of Israel’s most important historical buildings known as the Kishle, a 12th Century Crusader fortress and coveted asset of the Napoleonic, Byzantine and Ottoman Empires. Culminating after 25 years of extensive renovations, The Setai Tel Aviv features 120 guest rooms and suites, a rooftop infinity pool, full-service spa, chef-led restaurant and Turkish-inspired interiors by London-based ARA Design.

Hotel Montefiore

Hotel Montefiore is a 12-room boutique property embodying the essence of unparalleled luxury, intimacy and exquisite style in a picturesque, meticulously restored building in the heart of Tel Aviv, just steps from Rothschild Boulevard. Hotel Montefiore is the property that paved the way for Tel Aviv’s ever-expanding hotel scene. Head to the hotel’s hotspot restaurant for a menu that changes daily and features an Israeli interpretation of Franco-Vietnamese Brasserie fare along with an expertly curated list of international wines and artisanal cocktails.
