Tune-Yards: Heart Attack

The lead track from Tune-Yard’s brand new album I can feel you creep into my private life, “Heart Attack” lays out the sonic profile and thematic discourse Merrill Garbus will explore along all 12 songs. With her signature magnetic power, Garbus sings, yelps and belts over layered instrumentation and into self-reflective territory. It’s quite the wild ride.

Unknown Mortal Orchestra: American Guilt

The new track by NZ band Unknown Mortal Orchestra, “American Guilt,” is a little more psychedelic than what’s found on their previous album. Seemingly recorded in a lo-fi manner, with plenty of fuzzed vocals and distorted guitar, the tune is crunchy and raw in the best possible way. UMO has also announced a comprehensive USA and Europe tour beginning in April.

Sam Gouthro: Down For This

San Diego-based DJ/producer Sam Gouthro (who is signed to Majestic Casual Records) released the very mellow “Down For This” late last year and it’s been playing on the CH office speakers non-stop. The tune combines elements of soul, funk, jazz and more, and the result is a cruise-y little groove that begs for repeat listens.
