The love affair between Japan and Levi’s is rooted in ’50s-era American rock’n’roll films. The jeans worn by the rebel characters were Levi’s, but the jeans weren’t available in Japan and therefore became treasured relics of the culture. The ensuing collaboration, between style icon Motofumi “Poggy” Kogi and Levi’s, is a direct reference to one of Poggy’s favorite jackets in his vintage collection.
