As a former member of the iconic punk band Black Flag, and as an artist, Raymond Pettibon has never been afraid to venture into the darker episodes of our country’s history. Touching on themes of literature, government, sexuality and sports, often with an anti-authoritarian perspective, Pettibon’s work includes fragmented text and recalls the black and white illustrative style of the Ashcan school. His 2000 work “Mickey” comes from an edition of 35 lithographs, and will exist as a noteworthy work in any collection.
