Design for Africa

“Design is much more than nice shapes, packages or expensive “designer products.” We want to show that design is a method, which works even in very poor parts of the world.”

Design for Africa is an ambitious project of two recent industrial design school graduates, Frank Hofmann and Staffan Weigel. They have just begun a year-long journey to bring their expertise to helping communities throughout Africa solve some of the problems of everyday life. The trip culminates in a project focused on recycling programs in Kibera, a Nairobi slum. Their inspiring work will be documented on their site.
