People have been searching for preventative and homeopathic treatments for the common cold for centuries, and one such remedy is Fire Cider, which has been all but perfected by Shire City Herbals, a Massachusetts-based family-run business. Their concoction can tame sore throats, fight cold and flu symptoms—even abate hangovers and heartburn. Shire City Herbals Fire Cider is comprised of certified organic apple cider vinegar and raw wildflower honey. Then a multitude of strictly organic ingredients is added: Oranges, lemons, onions, ginger, horseradish, garlic, turmeric and habanero pepper. The result is a flavor that lives up to its name. There is a definite zing upon swallowing, but it’s surprisingly satisfying. Shine City Herbals recommends diluting the cider with juice or even alcohol. And it’s safe for children too—minus the booze, of course.

The packaging is designed by comic artist Brian Huebner, who created original characters that are both inviting and anachronistic. The amber glass bottles are completely recyclable and the company is committed to practicing sustainable packaging methods.

Shire City Herbals Fire Cider is available online in eight oz, 16 oz, half gallon and gallon bottles with prices ranging from $12 to $110.
