Cool Hunting Video: Ultra Violet

A peek inside the studio and the mind of pop art’s most infamous muse

On a rainy day in New York, we visited iconic artist Ultra Violet (aka Isabelle Collin Dufresne) in her studio. Quickly integrated into pop and surrealist artists’ social scene upon her immigration into the US from France, Ultra Violet is known not just for her work, but also her personality which influenced many fellow artists—perhaps most notably Andy Warhol. Her art reflects a contemporary aesthetic; utilizing neon lights, computers and mirrors. We learned about some of her latest work (which can be seen at an upcoming show at the Dillon Gallery, opening 24 April) and how she believes art should be spiritual and uplifting.
