The Netherlands Brings Banknote Bridges to Life
In his most recent “Things You Might Not Know” video on YouTube, Tom Scott reveals how the Netherlands has laid claim to the bridge designs found on Euro banknotes. In order to be fair to all countries of the European Union, fictional bridges were drawn up for the bills that could represent infrastructure styles across various European nations. In 2011, artist Robin Stam decided to bring those designs to life as part of a housing development in the Netherlands by duplicating not only the architecture of the bridges, but their bright, banknote-assigned colors too.
