Most Americans Want Laws to Protect Transgender People
Despite the current political atmosphere in the United States, some very good news has been discovered. A poll conducted by the Public Religion Research Institute has suggested that the majority of Americans want special federal laws to protect transgender people. Some “72% of Americans now favor passing laws to protect lesbian, gay and transgender people from discrimination” and that isn’t just left-wing individuals, rather “three-quarters of Democrats and two-thirds of Republicans.” No matter what happens in November’s election, Americans can and should be proud that they are making sensitive and pragmatic steps toward being more inclusive, understanding and empathetic.
