Philadelphia-based illustrator Andy Rementer is the latest artist to team up with Belgium-based serial collaborators Case Studyo to create super-colorful, limited edition artworks called People Blocks.

Case Studyo has previously collaborated with the likes of Ed Templeton, Parra, Kevin Lyons, Steve “ESPO” Powers and Friends With You to create new artworks, and this particular partnership with Rementer has resulted in a series of handmade and painted wooden characters. The figures—named Antoine, Fabienne, Jean and François—stand between 30cm and 40cm in height and are sold individually in lovingly screen-printed wooden boxes. Each sculptural work is hand-signed and numbered by the artist in an edition of just 12 and comes with its own certificate of authenticity.

The fun really starts when you realize that the brightly colored figures can be taken apart and that the body parts are interchangeable, meaning you can mix and match heads, bodies, legs and even hats to make your own characters—as the promo video shows.

“I’ve been in contact with Case Studyo for about two years,” Rementer tells CH about the project. “We immediately wanted to collaborate on a 3D piece, and this People Blocks project organically grew out of that,” he continues. “We explored many different mediums, and finally landed on wood as the perfect choice. I’m honored to work with a company that has paired up with so many artists that I admire.”

Each figure is priced at €250. Find them on the Case Studyo website.
