Coney Island Boardwalk Camping Knife

Hold a piece NYC’s coastal history embedded in the handle of a sturdy camping tool

Our friends at Horse Cycles recently went through a little change. The now-named Horse Brand Co. has expanded beyond bicycle production to include a wide repertoire of goods from copper flasks to riding gloves. Their latest project caught our eye: it’s a version of the company’s sturdy camping knife but with a deeper story. Through a partnership with Surname Goods the team has created a beautiful blade with a handle constructed using wood from the Coney Island Boardwalk in Brooklyn—the wood being available due to the structure’s destruction during Hurricane Sandy.

The three-inch blade and handsome handle are both handmade in Brooklyn, along with the optional leather case. With the 1095 high carbon steel composition and the extreme attention to detail, this blade is up to any task while reminding us of the perseverance of NYC’s coastal population. Get one from the Horse Brand Co. online shop for $195.
