Now Play It

Whenever I get a tune in my head that I can't get rid of, not only do I end up humming along for hours, but I get an uncontrollable urge to bash it out on my axe – sorry, play it on my guitar. Most other players will no doubt agree, which is why Now Play It is a welcome addition to my bookmarks.

While there have been videos of amateurs playing their favorite tunes on YouTube for ages, this British website takes it to the next level. Around 300 video tutorials are available for guitar, bass and drums and are given a difficulty rating from 1 to 5. A lot just feature the chord shapes shown over the top of the music video, or a house tutor showing you what to do. Rather impressively though, many of them are taught by the actual artists themselves. Cough up, and Blur drummer Dave Rowntree (above right) will teach you how to play along to "Song 2," or KT Tunstall will patiently show you how to play "Suddenly I See" just like she did.

Tutorials start at £1.99 and are iTunes and iPod compatible.
