Remember checking in for flights at the airport, or having to call an airline the night before to confirm? Both used to be standard operating procedures for travelers. Now, the entire airline industry has become digitized and mobile check-in is the norm. On par, hotel culture is embracing tech developments and Marriott Hotels is vying for the forefront with their newly refreshed app.

As part of their Travel Brilliantly campaign to innovate along every step of the travel processfrom leaving home to getting backMarriott is expanding its mobile offerings through the Marriott Mobile App. In July 2013 they started with the check-in process, but that’s just the start.

Here’s how their initial check-in process works: Guests who are Marriott Rewards members can use their iPhone or Android device to check-in to their hotel room any time after 4:00 P.M. the day before their arrival. The hotel will send an alert when the room is ready, at which point pre-programmed keys will be waiting at a special mobile check-in desk. Guest preferences and credit card information will already have been stored in their profile, so theres no need to re-supply the information. No more standing in line at reception; Marriott has created an easier and faster process, which is what every traveler wants.

Since launch, Marriott has rolled out mobile check-in to 329 of its properties in the continental U.S. and Canada (the mobile check-in is available throughout Canada except in the Provence of Quebec).

Further, Marriott has launched four mobile incubator hotels (Boston Marriott Copley Place, Charleston Marriott, Denver Marriott West and San Diego Marriott Marquis) to test future mobile enhancements including requests for additional towels, wake-up calls, housekeeping and a check-out feature.

To encourage involvement, Marriott has also launched a new platform that encourages next generation travelers to submit innovative ideas that re-imagine the future of travel. You can visit Travel Brilliantly to submit your suggestion and help Marriott re-imagine the future of travel. Marriott invites travelers to download Marriotts Mobile App for both iPhone and Android.
