Love Is A Battlefield: The Bittersweet Valentine’s Party Playlist
After years of hosting a pro-inclusivity annual Valentine’s Day dance party for her friends, writer Jennifer Boeder has come to the conclusion that love is a battlefield, no matter your status. Obviously some musicians have known this for much longer, writing songs about “love gone wrong,” which Boeder divides into three categories: “After the Love has Gone,” “Tainted Love,” and “I Will Survive.” The song selections (from Bell Biv DeVoe’s “Poison” to Robyn’s “Dancing On My Own”) are spot-on, but it’s Boeder’s funny and clever descriptions that make this is a bookmark-worthy playlist.
