The Ballet: Mattachine
I just got my copy of Mattachine, the debut CD from The Ballet. The handmade package features a simple triangular pattern printed on the disk, erotic drawings printed on a sheet of paper from a legal pad, and the liner notes suggest a very literal stemming of the rose from the attached pin.
Self-proclaimed “Sissy-pop,” The Ballet’s debut CD features members of The Aislers Set, Voxtrot and The Baskervilles. Recalling Holiday-era Magnetic Fields, The Hidden Cameras, Belle and Sebastian and The Smiths, their formula of “4 queers, 3 chords and 100 melodies” has us hooked.
