Princess Nokia: G.O.A.T.
Princess Nokia’s brand new video for the Wally West-produced “G.O.A.T.” sees her rolling around the city in a bright red Polaris Slingshot three-wheeler. The NYC-based artist references her individuality and self-assurance throughout the cruise-y tune, while also mentioning Clueless and MySpace. “Ain’t no average bitch, I been the man, I been the GOAT,” she rhymes in her effortless and familiar flow.
Moses Sumney: Doomed
Moses Sumney is submerged underwater in his sublime video (directed by Allie Avital) for “Doomed”—a track set to appear on his debut record. The atmospheric and soulful song rests a soulful ballad atop an exquisite soundscape.
Sir Sly: Change
Last month, LA-based band Sir Sly (aka Landon Jacobs, Jason Suwito and Hayden Coplen) returned with a track called “High” from their upcoming sophomore record—due to be released 30 June. The album (called Don’t You Worry, Honey also features the track “Change,” which is a little more synth-pop tinged than their previous music—but it maintains folk-vibed vocals. Sampling “Miracle” by Donnie Trumpet + The Social Experiment, this song is a breezy but introspective tune.
Olivia Nelson: Cleopatra
London-based singer/songwriter Olivia Nelson’s debut solo track, “Cleopatra,” is a super-funky and infectious tune. Channeling some slick R&B vocals, Nelson’s voice over the groovy beat creates an ideal, sweet balance. We look forward to seeing what’s next for the up-and-coming artist.
