Compact color all-in-one inkjet printers for small businesses
The printer family, rarely a source for exciting advances in design and innovation, just got a flashy new sibling. The Business Smart Series from Brother Printers was recently unveiled, showing off what looks to be the all-in-one solution for small businesses. Taking up about as much space as a sheet of ledger paper (11″x17″), the combination printer-scanner is compact, capable and quick. With multiple speed modes that affect quality, the flagship MFC-J4510DW model is capable of doling out 27 pages per minute in color and 35 in black and white—giving it best-in-class bragging rights.
In order to make all of these specs possible, the internal printer cartridges were redesigned to be compact and high-yield. The series also prints landscape rather than portrait, saving a considerable amount of depth. An intuitive swipe touch screen controls printer functions, and enable users to upload directly to Facebook, Picasa web albums, Flickr, Evernote and Dropbox. Printing from mobile devices is facilitated by numerous wireless printing options including Apple AirPrint, Google Cloud Print and Wi-Fi Direct.
The takeaway—consumers now have an all-in-one color printer that can do the work of its bulky competition while saving space. Hitting stores October 2012, the Business Smart Series MFC-J4510DW is expected to retail for $199.
