How Kanye West Lyrics are Tricking Instagram’s AI
As part of Wired’s in-depth profile on Instagram CEO Kevin Systrom, the 33-year-old discussed how he wants to clean up the internet—but it’s proving difficult. The company is using DeepText (a word categorization system) to try to filter “good” words from “bad” ones, but it’s tripping over cultural differences. For example, it stumbled over the British slang for cigarettes and plenty of Kanye West lyrics. In fact, every line of the first verse in “Famous” was blocked.
