The field of artificial intelligence landed a significant victory over the human mind today, as Google’s AlphaGo program was able to defeat legendary player Lee Se-dol at the game of Go. AI has previously been unable to master the ancient Chinese board game like it has with chess or checkers, as Go requires much more intuition and evaluation. AlphaGo’s creators developed the program using a system of deep neural networks and machine learning, allowing it to eventually outwit Se-Dol.
