Wolsey Fall/Winter 2012

Next-generation heritage from the British menswear label

With 257 years of brand heritage behind it, Wolsey‘s Fall/Winter 2012 collection remains fully modern in a marriage of robust fabrics and forward-minded design. Moleskin and mohair are everywhere in the coming season, as are old favorites like cable knits and Fair Isle sweaters, in this case updated with digital jacquard. Functionality is not without a sense of time and place—slant pockets, cropped blazers and tech-ready accessories are ready to bring 21st-century relevance to the outfitter that equipped Arctic explorer Ernest Shackleton nearly 100 years prior. The collection is the first full line under Creative Director Richard Bengtsson and marks the clothier’s ongoing maturation.

In addition to the main line, Wolsey is expanding the “Made in GB” collection that features accessories made entirely in the UK. Laptop satchels and iPad cases join all manner of wallets, bags, suspenders and belts. Also on offer is the premium “1755” collection, which shines with rich fabrics such as lambswool, merino and alpaca.

Moleskin and resin coats can be found on outerwear as well as pants—the mod-inspired cuts equally ready for the elements as their hunting and fishing predecessors. The sign of a true British menswear brand is Wolsey’s versatility for both town and country, a hybrid look most readily embodied in the line’s duffle-parka hybrid jacket lined in shearling.

Wolsey’s Autumn/Winter 2012 collection will be hitting stores September 2012. See more of the looks in our slideshow.
