Curiosity may not have killed the cat; instead the feeling might have improved its health. Research recently published in the journal “Emotion” is hinting towards some serious benefits for having a sense of wonder. Lead study author Jennifer E. Stellar found a strong correlation between people who experienced more positive emotions and fewer inflammatory markers—which are known to be linked to heart disease and cancer. As Stellar explains it, “Awe is associated with curiosity and a desire to explore, suggesting antithetical behavioral responses to those found during inflammation.”
