Moncler + amfAR’s Art for Love Auction

Works from 32 of the world’s greatest photographers up for auction on Paddle8

Alpine outerwear brand Moncler is no stranger to hosting events above and beyond the already high expectations of New York Fashion Week. This season, however, in place of future-forward operas and shifting couple-based performance art, the label (once again) partnered with amfAR for an exhibition of social relevance. On Friday, 9 September 2015, Moncler chairman Remo Ruffini and amfAR CEO Kevin Robert Frost debuted original works—curated by Fabien Baron—from 32 of the greatest working photographers with all the proceeds going toward the charity’s “Countdown to a Cure” program. And while the pieces were only visible in person for night at The New York Public Library’s Stephen A. Schwarzman Building on 5th Avenue, the “Art for Love” auction will continue for two weeks via Paddle8.

While all of the photos incorporate the iconic Moncler Maya duvet jacket, each image is a distinct, imaginative piece of art. From Arthur Elgort and Brigitte Lacombe to Bruce Weber and Steven Klein, the hand of the artist is visible, bold and beautiful. Annie Leibovitz and Mert & Marcus contributed pieces, among many others. With the fashion world’s collective gaze on New York—and Moncler—at the moment, it’s a powerful statement to witness a brand putting fashion photography’s finest up to the task of raising money for AIDs research. And ultimately, Moncler’s visionary president Ruffini let the photographers do as they wish, leading to plenty of striking, one-of-a-kind visuals.

Browse all Art for Love pieces on Paddle8, with starting bids commencing at $1000. The auction closes on 29 September 2015..
