Flos + Bezar Go Bubblegum Pink

The Italian brand’s studious Kelvin table lamp gets a bold paint job

Online design marketplace Bezar officially launched just a few months ago, but has been holding to its promise of introducing unique products from independent designers on a daily basis and becoming a go-to place for discovering new art and home items. The shopping platform (from fab.com co-founder Bradford Shellhammer) ups its offerings with a new series intended to refresh classic designs. Their first “color bomb,” as Bezar call it, takes the quite studious-looking Kelvin table lamp from Flos and paints it bright pink. The Kelvin Green Mode I model has a 360 degree rotating arm, 30 Top LEDs and a Daylight Sensor that, when turned on, will automatically adjust light output depending on the brightness of its surroundings, just like your smartphone.

“Flos in an iconic Italian brand dedicated to authenticity, technology and design. When Flos USA’s CEO Jan and I got together this winter, we immediately starting dreaming up ways our two very different, but very aligned, brands could work together,” Shellhammer tells CH. “The result: Bezar’s first ‘color bombing’ of the classics. We chose the Kelvin as its silhouette lends itself to bright colors and its price point is affordable. We pulled from the Bezar palette a bubblegum pink as we knew this was launching in summer—and because pink freaking rules.” Just like Bezar’s well-considered selection of objets, this new series is bona fide Shellhammer, whose own NYC apartment is known for being an (organized) explosion of bold colors.

Made in a limited edition of 100, the pink FLOS lamp launches today for $495 (with free shipping) exclusively on Bezar, and the sale will run for one month until 15 July 2015. Keep an eye out for what classic Bezar will “color bomb” next.
