Biting Elbows: Bad Motherfucker
In a video that brilliantly combines a first-person shooter perspective with a Quentin Tarantino-like narrative, Russian indie punk band Biting Elbows delivers “Bad Motherfucker“—a single that lives up to its name. While we admittedly missed its viral debut, London-based graphic designer Sean Gall tipped us off to the cinematic video this week via the social music aggregating site, This Is My Jam. Full of car chases, bloody shootouts and teleportation powers, it’s all captured by director and frontman Ilya Naishuller on a simple Sony GoPro camera.
The Lonely Island: Go Kindergarten feat. Robyn, Sean Combs, and Paul Rudd
The hilariously raunchy video for “Go Kindergarten” off of The Lonely Island’s third album, The Wack Album, combines Step Up-like choreography, ridiculous costumes and perhaps the most offensive lyrics they’ve come up with yet. See fingers chopped; bananas, shoes and garbage eaten; and a woman giving birth on the dance floor in a satire poking fun at club anthems and an easily influenced youth culture. Robyn’s alluring vocal solos are so hypnotic you will like hit the replay button no matter how scarred you’ve become by Paul Rudd’s truck driver mustache.

Myron & E: If I Gave You My Love
Stones Throw have done it again. Having been set up by the now-legendary Peanut Butter Wolf back in 1996, the LA-based label has pioneered its own brand of raw hip-hop and breaks from the likes of Madlib and J Dilla for nearly 20 years. In more recent times though, they introduced Aloe Blacc to the world and achieved unparalleled commercial success while pushing genuine modern soul. And it looks like they’ll be continuing that party with their latest act, Myron & E. Remember the name, the debut album Broadway is out 7 July 2013, but “If I Gave You My Love“—the lead track off a pre-released four-track EP—can be purchased now.
Trentemøller: Clash DJ Mix Podcast
In between playing festivals throughout Europe this summer, Danish electronic artist Trentemøller gathered 46 minutes of music to create a playlist for London’s Clash magazine. Trentemøller gives listeners an insight into his musical tastes and influences, which are surprisingly very different from his characteristically dark, ambient sound. Included are indie rock group Foxygen, mesmerizing 1960s spoken word singing from Angie Hester, “Bellydance Seduction,” and a #6 track labeled “Unknown Swedish artist – Unknown track from early ’80s.” Many of the chosen tracks are unfamiliar hidden treasures, providing listeners an array of lesser-known artists with a unique sound.
