Watch Six Microbots Pull an Entire Car
Replicating the way ants work together to move objects hundreds of times their weight, scientists at the Biomimetics and Dexterous Manipulation Laboratory (BDML) Stanford University have created a small team of micro tug robots. Recently, a team of just six of these impressive microbots—weighing in at a combined 100 grams—was able to pull an entire car with a human sitting inside, or about 1800 kilograms. The bots make use of slow, overlapping tugs to produce the most effective force. Watch them move the car on YouTube.
