Leonard Nimoy: By Myself

Today, news broke that Leonard Nimoy passed away at the age of 83. Bringing the half-human, half-Vulcan Mr. Spock to life in the Star Trek television and movie series, Nimoy has been “beamed up” one final time. Many Trekkies may not realize that beyond acting, Nimoy was a film director, writer, poet, photographer—and even a singer. In 1967, he released Leonard Nimoy Presents Mr. Spock’s Music From Outer Space, the first of five studio albums, which is full of campy, outer space-themed songs and spoken word. “By Myself,” which is on the 1973 re-release, is one track that sticks out as a particularly touching ballad.
