Elisa Strozyk Wooden Textiles
Berlin-born textile designer Elisa Strozyk radically reinvents wood with her wooden carpet and textile furniture. Similar to fellow Central Saint Martins design graduate Eunsuk Hur, Strozyk aims to engage the customer and lend emotional value to an object.
In response to an increasingly immaterial world, Strozyk created the alluring wooden textiles to reconnect with a traditional surface in a new form. By attaching the laser-cut wooden pieces to various fabrics, Strozyk can manipulate the material into several 3D shapes.
Seemingly an extension of Issey Mayake's Bilbao handbag, Strozyk's textiles further the conversation of how fabrics will be created in the future. Her wooden carpet was included in "Future Map 2009," an exhibition celebrating 25 of London's most talented emerging designers at Hoxton Square Projects.
