Karen O: Rapt

Kitty Cash’s mixtape, Karen O’s solo album, Simian Mobile Disco and more in the music we tweeted this week

Karen O’s career spans her role as lead singer of the formative indie band Yeah Yeah Yeah’s to collaborating with Spike Jonze for Adidas to composing the soundtrack for “Where the Wild Things Are.” With her latest release, “Rapt,” the celebrated artist presents a visceral vulnerability unseen in much of her previous work. The murky marine video, directed by O’s husband Barney Clay, sees O float-dancing in a nocturnal sea. Pared-down and decidedly lo-fi yet melodic, the track appears on her upcoming full-length Crush Songs—which she says was recorded between 2006 and 2007—is due out 9 September 2014.
