Holly Laws is known for incredibly detailed, undersized sculptures and often takes on articles of women’s clothing as her subject. Released yesterday for Valentine’s Day, Laws’ latest pieces are a pair of pink and black bras encased in glass jars and suspended from hooked stands. The enclosed icons are vaguely old-timey, reminiscent of a mother’s intimates hanging on the line to dry. The detail of each stitch and flourish gives them a personality and a story, which the viewer is free to assign in their disembodied form.
The “Bras” series sells from Grey Area for $1600 each. See more of Laws’ work over at Kathleen Cullen Fine Arts.
