Southern-inspired scents are housed in reusable copper tins for the perfect fall candle
Homestead is a new three-piece collection from candlemakers Found Goods Market. Like their debut collection, Fairfax & King—which drew inspiration from historical American apothecaries—Homestead rouses nostalgic memories from the South, which makes sense considering the candles are hand-poured in Starkville, Mississippi. Each shape resembles artifacts found in old dry goods stores: The eight oz. Metal Cup recalls measuring cups, the 16 oz. Octagon Tea Tin (which has two wicks) is inspired by tea and spice containers, and the 20 oz. Hammered Canister is reminiscent of familiar flour and sugar canisters. Once the soy wax candle goes out permanently, the containers can be reused as a vase or trinket box to add vintage touches to any room.
The rose-colored copper and antique brass tones are eye-catching but it’s the fragrances that really stand out. While some of the scents like Ambrosia might be a little too sweet for some, the hint of spice in Mahogany (mahogany wood, white musk and freesia) and subtle aroma of Sachet (jasmine, dried rose and cattleya orchid) are close to perfect. The Homestead collection will be available in mid September 2013 online and in specialty boutiques. Prices range from $24 to $32.
