Nikon KeyMission 360

The premium DSLR camera maker enters the action and VR space with one new device

Nikon, today at CES, unveiled their expected flagship update, the D5 (more on that soon), plus the unexpected entry point to the action and VR space, the KeyMission 360. It’s bit larger than a GoPro, but the device has two lenses, not one. Facing opposite directions, each lens sees more than 180 degrees to capture a complete sphere around it—all in 4K video.

The KeyMission 360 leverages Nikon’s expertise in lens, sensor and software development to capture bright, crisp imagery with minimal camera shake—the most common issue with action cameras is vibration in the footage. It will be released this Spring and though pricing has not been announced, it was called “affordable” repeatedly throughout the Nikon press conference.
