Madden Equipment

Classically styled packs from a recently revived Colorado heritage brand

Forty years ago in a small shop in Boulder, Colorado, Outward Bound instructor Dan Madden set out to make a better pack that would suit his and his students’ needs in the backcountry. After 10 years off, Madden Equipment is back, producing outdoor-focused packs with enough technical features for adventures and classic styling for the city. Most of the original machines, patterns and employees from the early days of Madden are part of the brand’s revival with updated technical materials like ultra-tough Cordura outers and the occasional technology-friendly feature not built into the original designs, such as sleeves for hydration reservoirs and laptops. Ranging from simple knapsacks to fully functional multi-day backpacking rigs with various shapes and sizes in between, Madden’s recent offering is a harmonious balance of contemporary design with classic outdoor styling from a true heritage brand.

Made entirely in their Colorado workshop, check out the full line of Madden Equipment packs and accessories online. Plus, 100% of the proceeds from Madden Equipment’s Dan’s Packs, Knapsacks and Daytrippers will go toward the CAN’d Aid Foundation to support Colorado flood relief efforts.
