Wolves is a dynamic force in American single malt whiskey, with Master Distiller Marko Karakasevic making a single barrel of distillate a day in a single alembic pot still in California. Editions are made from a lot of ten barrels made over a ten day period. The American Single Malt, 11 Year was distilled in 2012, aged in new American oak with a range of toast levels, and bottled in 2023 from nine of the ten barrels, with the tenth being held for a special single cask release. The liquid is fruit forward, spicy, with oats, caramel, and honey notes and a long finish. What started with espadrilles has expanded to include sneakers, wedges and mules. Because the source material is a scarf each shoe is unique, with some pairs offering nearly symmetrical designs and others a complimentary pairing of the source material’s pattern. The shoes are sustainably handmade in family-owned workshops in Spain using natural materials including jute and rubber; the silk is adhered with heat and stitching—no glue is needed.
