Though we typically read the books we recommend the urgency to celebrate the release of Marlon James’ The Disappearers feels more important than our ability to complete it in a timely manner. Most classic locking climbing carabiners have two innate design flaws. The gate closes against a hooked beak that tends to catch the rope. And, typically, you have to thread them shut, too. Many people aren’t aware that Ferrari did not have an in-house design department until 2010, and that the first car entirely designed by its Centro Stile is the 2013 LaFerrari. In 2010 Flavio Manzoni joined the company to create the department, encompassing interior, exterior and color and trim designers, modelers and others. They didn’t have a design studio until they designed their own sate-of-the-art building and could finally all sit together. Since then the Centro Stile has designed and presented more than 70 models, more than most other manufacturers over a 16 year period. Ferrari Design: Creative Journeys shares the design journey of  fifteen of these cars, the most iconic and significant in Manzoni’s (and most fans’s) opinion. Trashy Goods pretty much sums up this new brand started by two friends with big smiles, a passionate  appreciation for good design and for doing something about the growing concern about waste materials. Alex Mill brazenly calls it The Perfect Tote, but it really is the perfect tote. It comes in several sizes and many colors, but The Perfect Weekend Tote is our favorite, hitting that just-right spot for an overnight.
