Keith Haring in 3D
Most people think of paintings and flat works when Keith Haring comes to mind, but he was a prolific artist who explored all types of materials, including found objects which were plentiful and free in the streets of NYC in the early 1980s. From cars to clothes, ceramics, wood, sets, bodies and more he honed his work and visual alphabet while creating a substantial body of 3D works that were never the focus of his career or his galleries. A book ten years in the making, it launches adjacent to an exhibition of the same name, opening in the new wing at Crystal Bridges Museum of Contemporary Art 6 June 2026 and running through 25 January 2027. The book was edited by Larry Warsh and Glenn Adamson, and features contributions from Dieter Buchhart, David Galloway, Francis M. Naumann, Lowery Stokes Sims, and Robert Storr.
