An exciting collaboration and three piece collection by outdoor brand Danner and Hawaiian designer and cultural practitioner Sig Zane named ‘A‘ali‘i leans into the familiar interpretation of the word (the name of the Hawaiian hopseed bush), symbolizing strength, resilience and standing firm in the face of difficulties. The three products in the collection include the Sig Zane X Danner ʻŌnini Windbreaker ($150), a pair of N45 Sig Zane ‘A’ali’i hiking shoes ($210) and a pair of Danner Light Sig Zane ‘A‘ali‘i hiking boots ($490), each with a variation of an abstract pattern designed by Sig Zane that “symbolizes the strength of the Native Hawaiian people.” The traditional ‘ohe kāpala woodblock technique was used, with a unique design hand carved into bamboo to create the patterns, which were then scanned by Kūhaʻo Zane (Sig’s son) and then designed into the products.
